Privacy notice · version 1 · reviewed 2026-08-01

Your information,
handled properly.

This notice explains what personal information PAS Media Academy ("PASMA", "we") processes, why, on what lawful basis, for how long — and the rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Applies to: this website, the learning platform, enquiries and applications.

1 · Who is responsible

PAS Media Academy, 74 West Burger Street, Bloemfontein Central, 9301, Free State, South Africa — reachable at admin@pasacademy.co.za or 087 153 5584.

Information Officer: designation in progress — this notice will name the registered Information Officer once the appointment is confirmed with the Information Regulator. Until then, privacy queries go to admin@pasacademy.co.za.

Minimisation: we do not ask for ID numbers, phone numbers or sponsor details before a genuine application stage — and ID documents are never collected through the public website. Marketing email is strictly opt-in; applying or enquiring never signs you up.

3 · Services that process data, including cross-border

Some service providers process information outside South Africa. Where POPIA section 72 applies, we use providers bound by law, binding corporate rules or agreements that provide substantially similar protection:

  • Cloudflare (website hosting and content delivery, global edge network)
  • Brevo (transactional email, EU)
  • YouTube (embedded videos, only where a page embeds one)
  • Backblaze B2 (encrypted off-site backups)
  • 1-grid (South African VPS hosting for the learning platform)

Free Learn activity results stay in your own browser and are never transmitted to us before you register an account and explicitly choose to import them.

4 · Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to:

  • confirm what personal information we hold about you, and access it;
  • correct or delete personal information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date or unlawfully obtained;
  • delete information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interest, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (this does not affect processing already done);
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.

Send requests to admin@pasacademy.co.za. We respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first.

5 · The Information Regulator

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa):

  • JD House, 27 Stiemens Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg, 2001
  • Complaints: complaints.IR@inforegulator.org.za
  • General enquiries: enquiries@inforegulator.org.za
